 April Fools, 2012

April Snow?

Well you had to be here... this year, for April Fools, we woke up to SNOW!! No Joke! Thankfully, it didn’t last long though, and we were back to spring in no time.

Heading for Fort St. John

Fort St. John Al headed to Fort St. John to help July and Seve as they were ready to take over their mismanaged apartment.  Steve and July had an on-site manager who was supposed to care and manage the property, but really did not do the job. So a group of friends lent their skills to help correct the problem. Steve and July are pictured along with Al and David, Steve's cousin who is a professional painter.

We have learned through their experience that "Trust but verify" is a good practice when you are paying for an on-site manager. There needs to be measures and evidence that things are working well. Taking pictures at periodic intervals is a good practice too. Because when someone fails at their job, it goes to heck in a handbasket quick. When it comes to expenses, be sure to get photo evidence and receipts of what exactly was done.

Disempowering Conversations

Disempowering Conversation Shawn Bearman is a master at helping people to eliminate disempowering conversations and behaviors. She is helping to keep us in our authentic self as much as possible. If you really want to set your goals and meet them, being authentic is an important action to take to help make the realization of your goals a reality.

We learned that Human beings never do anything without a reason. Every action we take has a motivation towards something we want, or a way to get away from something we don't want. By staying in our authentic "empowered" self, we learned to understand our motivations and can take a correcting action if they are not in line with our goals. Usually, by employing this technique, the payoff is immediate. Ask yourself in the moment "How are you benefiting right now from having this disempowering (negative) conversation or behavior?".

Here are five steps you can practice:

    Disempowering Conversation

  • Stop the Action
  • Declare out loud or in silence that you are in a disempowering conversation
  • Change your physical location or shift yourself physically
  • Declare that it is not you
  • Celebrate your success

Square Foot Gardening

Square Foot GardenIt is amazing what you can do with just a little space. Al and I took a class on Square Foot Gardening.

Meet Harry Adams, the instructor for Square Foot Gardening. Harry is a teacher who is devoted to teaching you how to make the most out of the space you have, and create a fabulous garden in the process.

Mel Bartholomew of Square Foot Gardening.Com has a mission, which is to teach as many people and communities as possible how to feed your family and friends with wholesome home grown foods fresh from your garden.

One secret we learned is Mel's soil formula which is:

1/3 Peat moss, 1/3 vermiculite, and 1/3 compost from different sources. Mix it all together and then plant your seeds or seedlings. This is a great mix that you really don't even need to fertilize. Thanks Mel for sharing!

Festival of Awareness, Naramata, BC

Dr. Sharon

This month, I went to the Festival of Awareness in Naramata, BC. One of the many highlights from the weekend was meeting Dr Sharon Forrest. Dr. Forrest is a Trail-Blazer in Energy Medicine and Energy Psychology.  I also attended her workshops where she taught Complete Cellular Mind Body Alignment and Complete Cellular Soul Memory Clearing.

The benefits of this workshop is to help you eliminate issues that have an emotional tie to them, help you to see them and exercises to remove them when the body doesn't need them anymore.

Dr Sharon Forrest's story is amazing. 30 years ago she had debilitating chronic bronchial asthma; was dying of Lupus and receiving last rites. Today, she is vibrantly healthy, in her 60's, with loads of energy. We were surprised at how impactful her story was.

I highly recommend an experience with her for a miracle or breakthrough of your own.
