Love & Hearts!!

February is always a good time to think about love.. and why not your heart too? Especially since February is Love and Heart health month. A good thing to be aware of is your "Target Heart Rate" while you are exercising. The target heart rate is a desired range of heart rate reached during aerobic exercise which enables one's heart and lungs to receive the most benefit from a workout. To calculate your best number, follow the link here and it will tell you your best Target Heart Rate.

Margarine and your Heart

Many people believe that margarine is better for you than butter. However, that is not necessarily true. Elaine Hollingsworth of the Hippocrates Healt Centre says

"Did you know that the chemical process used to manufacture Margerine involve using Hexane and carbon tetrachloride which are both are used as solvents. After manufacture of margerine, and traces of these solvents remain in the margerine.

To achieve the butter like consistency, hydrogen gas is bubbled over a nickel catalyst, saturating the fat and turning it into an artery-clogger. These chemical insults create an odoriferous black goop which must be bleached and deodorized with more chemicals. Then artificial flavours dyes and preservatives are added. The result is a plastic, chemical non food that your body does not know how to deal with or detoxify. You might as well just inject liquid plastic into your veins.”

Keep this in mind when buttering your toast: Perhaps a bit of real butter on your toast is better than the margarine... which bugs won't even eat.

Wheatgrass

We recently chose to grow some wheatgrass. It really is easy to grow and quickly matures so it is ready to juice in about two weeks. Wheatgrass is a great way to alkalize your body and help restore the proper ph balance to your body. Some of the health benefits of Wheatgrass are:

  • Contains 103 vitamins, minerals and amino acids.
  • One ounce represents approx 2.5 pounds of fresh green veggies.
  • It is high in chlorophyll, which draws toxins out of the body like a magnet
  • Wheatgrass Juice is one of the best sources of living chlorophyll available.
  • Wheatgrass is high in oxygen like all green plants that contain chlorophyll. The brain and all body tissues function at an optimal level in a highly-oxygenated environment.
  • Wheatgrass is a chlorophyll drink having an alkalizing effect on the body.

Wheatgrass has many wonderful benefits for our body. To learn more and for great recipes follow this link.

Mo Jiwani

The Vancouver Sun has been reporting how two promoters, Mo Jiwani and Gerard Darmon, persuaded dozens of people to invest more than $20 million in their private B.C. company, Dexior Financial Inc.

Dexior, in turn, invested in a variety of money-losing businesses, none of which ever brought any returns. Dexior went bankrupt and investors are now expected to lose at least 95 per cent of their capital.

This was so disturbing to us as we go to a lot of workshops and network with a lot of people searching to grow their wealth. This story is upsetting on so many levels but we thought it was good to share so others may be spared losing money in these type of investments. (To read more about this, click on the image for a list of stories in the Vancouver Sun.)

While investing, it is extremely important to do your due diligence and really research just what it is you are investing in. What criteria do you use to decide if an investment is a good one or maybe not? Sometimes, asking others in your network is a good idea so you can get other feedback into your decision making process. Who knows... it just might save your hard-earned bacon!

We sure hope your March is fun and very rewarding. Make time for you!

Live, Love, and Laugh!

Till next month,

Al & Shelley
